Why? Because it's beautiful...

The Helmsley Building was designated a New York City Landmark in 1987.
Every night it is a different beautiful color, such a small building amidst the many high rises - thus I deem it a small little secret among Manhattan's highest and finest. Fun fact, sadly when Mrs. Helmsley passed away, she left 12 million to her... dog! I also recently noticed, the bench I sat on in Central Park the other day was donated by the Helmsley's.. very generous people.

The Helmsley Building(the colorful building in front of the Met Life building(formerly the Pan Am building) is a 35-story building located at 230 Park Avenue between East 45th and East 46th Streets in Midtown Manhattan, built in 1929 as the New York Central Building. With the same architects as the Grand Central Terminal, in the Beaux-Arts style.
