20 East 11th Street
New York NY 10003
While walking on East 11th street towards University Place, you will pass the building where Eleanor Roosevelt used to live! Built in 1900, Eleanor Roosevelt held onto this apartment as her very own pied-à-terre from 1933- 1942 away from her and Franklin's other properties while her husband was in Presidency. According to the NY Mag realaestate section and agent Chris Toland, many of the apartments details remain the same to when Mrs. Roosevelt vacated this 2 bedroom apartment. Another fun fact from Mr. Toland, there was once a porch located in the back where Eleanor would sleep on the warm summer nights.
