One Fifth Avenue

One Fifth Avenue
New York, NY 10003

At East 8th st, architect Harvey Wiley Corbett "wanted to build a visual landmark for the base of Fifth avenue" as told by the book Manhattan Skyscrapers. A Greek Mansion use to cover this area before the 27 story, art deco landmark took over. Mr. Corbett made sure to incorporate the "shadow brick" piers that he used prior at the Bush Tower he resided in years earlier. With views of Washington Square park it is certainly an unmistakable building. Candace Bushnell also wrote a book about this famous address. Interviewing 5 residents, following them around and sharing their life stories. Certainly a book I personally couldn't put down. Seeing how well Ms. Bushnell did with Sex and the City, this woman is obviously is a talented writer. For your own copy visit click here!
