It makes me happy Marchesa went with a Gatsby theme for Fashion Week

The Great Gatsby is one of my favorite movies, and it was a popular with many.. Jazz day on Governors Island in New York always has a line for miles with costumed hopefuls.. and now lovely Marchesa has decided to go with a Gatsby theme.. it is so great to see others are as fascinated with this era (circa 1920's, a book written and time created by F.Scott Fitzgerald) as much as I :)

This past Fall Fashion Week in NYC, held at the St. Regis Hotel, Marchesa showed a new and stunning line dedicated to the 1920's glamour. Marchesa is a brand I love, not only for their always elegant and classy dresses created by co-designers Keren Craig and Georgina Chapman but also for what and actually more specifically who Marchesa is.

Digging deeper behind the name these ladies chose, Marchesa was actually a socialite, heiress and muse born in Milan, her full name - Marchesa Luisa Casati. According to Wikipedia she was quoted saying "I want to be a living work of art". My favorite story of her - she would be seen walking her pet tigers around late at night wearing her most elegant and eccentric dress draped in diamonds. After both her parents passed away, her and her sister became to two wealthiest women in Italy until 1930 when her personal debt raised to 25 Million. This lead to an auction of her belongings and allegedly Coco Chanel was one of the bidders!

Now, please enjoy some of my favs from Marchesa's fall fashion line thanks to Style.com!
